The end of summer

So the ESY program at the school has come and gone and I would certainly tweek some things next year...

give up on afternoon horticulture clubs... just too darn hot and humid half the time.

have greater success with cucumbers, just a pitiful year????

change my schedule a bit, if possible.

no Lyme disease taking me out of the action for three weeks.

But...

keep the mass of students that flowed through my classroom and our gardens.

and whatever I did with the eggplants... do it again. Best year ever. Covering with row covers from the start really kept insect pests away.

keep cooking and baking...

Keep up the hope we will learn from our mistakes.

keep making flower arrangements.

So that's a really quick review. probably won't be blogging about the school garden much for a week or so. But I am excited by the prospects of the fall season. Feeling healthy and cooler weather could make for one tired teacher/gardener.

I know the feeling for sure. I hope I misread you but if you have Lyme disease here is best wishes for a speedy recovery. Fall is coming for sure. It is a time I'll be slowing down on my blogging as I've been spending too much time and have been trying to get away from it-or I would have come by sooner. Montgomery County seems to be a common county name. Every time I Google our county I come up with Montgomery County Maryland. It seems their website rocks! Anyhow, you take care and do drop by when you can!! Take it easy and get well.

No misreading about the Lyme disease. I did little gardening for three weeks, even at the school

I'm glad you're feeling better Wayne.

So on to the fall, does time get quicker as the years go on?

Rob--- as for time... mixed bag for me... years go faster, days slower. must be a quantum physics thing :")

Get well soon. This is an insidious disease and a few blogger have it and have posted about it. Jan and Joanne come to mind. Again, get well soon.

Mercy, we must be in the same time zone: "years go faster, days go slower". I hope you caught the Lyme disease in time for the antibiotics to work. If not, I have a friend with Lyme's who's found some things that help her do better; if that info would interest you, feel free to ask. Chronic disease sucks.

I envy you your eggplants! Didn't grow any this year, and I love them so much. I'll have to check which kinds you grew.

I know my son took a few of your classes. He learned in there and had a good time as well. If you wish for many more students, that is heartening. Word gets out amoung them, the courses are interesting and you are a down to earth instructor. Hope you continue to enjoy the job, glad to read you're healthier! *p.s. cucumbers bonked out here in the home garden as well, going to try to tiny pickling kind next year

Nice recap!

If you're feeling up to it, stop by my blog as I have awarded you with a favorite commenters award. Silly meme stuff, but it was more fun than I thought it would be.

And FYI, the only reason you are last is because I went alphabetical.

Tina, Pomona, Dana, and Susan--- sorry it took so long to post your comments. I was off on an 8 day silent retreat... and vowed to stay off computers the whole time. I succeeded. Feeling well.. hope I am free of Lyme Disease.
